About The Hideaway Camping & Caravan Park

West Cork Location

In a rural setting, just a ten minute walk by pavement and street lighting from the thriving West cork town of Skibbereen, visitors will find this 4-star family run park. Recommended by Alan Rogers, ANWB, ACSI, ADAC, Camping Wijzer and Guide de Routard.

The Hideaway offers a full range of modern facilities to families. Caravans and motorhomes, all with hardstanding are catered for, while a separate, tranquil area is provided for guests with tents. Families can enjoy ball games in the specially designated area, play a game of pool or have fun on the fantastic playground. Guests can enjoy relaxing walks with their pets along the Caol stream.

Skibbereen is a bustling market town, where visitors can enjoy superb shopping and a wide selection of pubs and restaurants,
with the relaxed and friendly atmosphere that has made West Cork famous. The town has many attractions including the Heritage Centre and the West Cork Arts Centre. Visitors can enjoy a game of golf in the nearby 18-hole course, or avail of the many other activities the area has to offer including sea angling, coarse fishing, scenic walks, scuba diving and moonlight kayaking and whale watching.

The town is an ideal base to discover the nearby quaint and scenic coastal villages of Glandore, Union Hall, Castletownsend, and Schull. Lough Hyne, Ireland’s first Marine Nature Reserve and only salt water lake is just a 10 minute drive, while Baltimore with its ferries to the Islands of Sherkin and Cape Clear is just a 15 minute drive.

Regrettably we are unable to accommodate commercial vehicles. For safety reasons we do not permit the use of bicycles,
skateboards and scooters in the park. We ask all visitors to observe the courtesy of a quiet and peaceful ambience after 10.30pm.

  • 5 STARS for Helen & Skibb – Stayed here 23 days while exploring the area and getting some R&R. This campsite is well run, spotless, Dog friendly and is only a short walk into Skibb town centre, brilliant market there on Saturday mornings and everything you want in that great town. The campsite is clean has a fantastic run area for dogs. Also there is a great playground for kids. The traveler facilities are perfect and the site layout is very beautiful, the hedges are lovely and create privacy for a solo female traveler with a dog Helen the owner was a valuable resource and is a very helpful no nonsense kinda lady who runs a tight ship, place is spotless, flowers are a lovely touch in shower/toilet area, Highly recommend this spot. See you 2022

  • A BIG 5 starts from us for sure! – Unable to find a house to rent in West Cork we took the adventurous option and rented a campervan for the family (2 + 2 girls). With a few nerves, given it was our first time renting a camper van, we headed off to Skibbereen to stay at The Hideaway Camping & Caravan Park our base for the trip. Best decision ever! The facilities were top class, spotless and well managed from a Covid perspective, great shower and away from home facilities, and there was plenty to occupy children as well. Helen and Stephen were super hosts and couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly and this friendliness spreads amongst the guests. We were particularly lucky to have landed next to a couple who went out of their way to help us novices get properly acquainted with our campervan which was very much appreciated. A BIG 5 stars from us for sure!
